French Adjustable Fruitwood Étagère by Siegel, 1950s

$8,800.00

A rare treasure from the storied Parisian shop-fitter Siegel, this eight-tier étagère distills mid-century French utility into a sculptural vertical showpiece. A telescopic brass spine anchors eight solid fruitwood shelves, each secured with cast-iron collars that allow them to swivel, slide, or be removed entirely.

Originally designed for boutiques and grands magasins, the structure offers merchandiser-grade adaptability—ideal for books, ceramics, barware, or objets. Its mixed-metal construction reads collected, not coordinated: ebonized steel stretchers, softly patinated brass uprights, and miniature brass ball feet form a layered, industrial aesthetic.

The slender 14-inch depth keeps its footprint-light, while the 6'+ height draws the eye upward. Capped with neoclassical acorn finials and stamped SIEGEL PARIS, this piece carries both provenance and presence—a collector’s item with gallery-worthy scale and functionality.

DIMENSIONS: 26.25"W x 21.5"D x 81.5"H
