French Blue Ceramic + Oak Coffee Table with Bird Motifs by Jacques Blin, 1950s

$9,000.00

Glazed ceramic and oak come together in this 1950s French coffee table by Jacques Blin.

Set within a solid oak frame, the tiled ceramic surface becomes the focus. Blin’s signature imagery—stylized birds, abstract forms, and finely incised linework—moves across the table almost like a drawing assembled tile by tile. Soft blue-green glazes shift subtly in tone, with variations in the firing giving the surface depth and movement.

The contrast between the warmth of the oak and the cooler ceramic glaze gives the piece its balance. While the silhouette remains simple and architectural, the hand-worked tiles introduce a more playful, expressive quality associated with Blin’s work.

Each tile carries slight irregularities in glaze and texture, allowing the surface to change quietly throughout the day as light moves across it. Signed by Jacques Blin.
