French Bronze + Fractured Resin Table Lamp by Maison Charles, 1970s

$4,200.00

Executed in bronze with an octagonal fractured resin element, a French table lamp by Maison Charles dating to the 1970s.

The faceted resin centerpiece is what first drew us to this lamp. Its fractured interior catches the light in unexpected ways, giving the material a depth and warmth that changes throughout the day. Paired with the softly curved bronze shade and slender stem, the composition feels carefully balanced, with each element allowing the next to stand out.

Maison Charles became synonymous with French luxury lighting during the mid-century period, celebrated for combining exceptional materials with carefully considered proportions. This example reflects that approach through its warm bronze finish, sculptural resin centerpiece, and understated architectural form.

Maison Charles is a French decorative arts house celebrated for its sculptural lighting and furniture, embodying the elegance of mid-century French design. Founded in Paris in 1900 by Ernest Charles, the firm initially specialized in metalwork before gaining recognition under the direction of Pierre Charles, who expanded the workshop’s vision. The firm gained prominence for transforming classical motifs and natural forms into sophisticated contemporary objects.

Known for its bronze, brass, and patinated metal creations, Maison Charles became synonymous with French luxury lighting through its balance of craftsmanship, refined proportions, and sculptural expression. Its timeless designs continue to be prized for their ability to merge art, history, and function.
