Fleeing Germany with his family, Lothar H. Molton founded Ello in 1956, starting his furniture company from the confines of a modest garage in Chicago. Just over a decade later, in 1968, the company relocated to Rockford, Illinois—a town with a storied legacy in furniture craftsmanship.
Over the next 40 years, Ello expanded into a sprawling 150,000-square-foot warehouse and a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, solidifying its position as both a respected furniture producer and importer.
