Italian Five-Piece Travertine Coffee Table, 1970s
One of the most interesting things about this 1970s Italian coffee table is that it isn’t really one table at all. Five individual travertine sections fit together to create a low, elongated form, but can just as easily be pulled apart and rearranged throughout a room.
Each section is cut from warm ivory travertine, with the natural variation, veining, and open pores of the stone visible across every surface. Rounded edges soften the geometry, while slender vertical details extend to the floor where the curved sections meet, giving the table an unexpected architectural quality.
Together, the five pieces form a substantial coffee table with an almost oval silhouette. Separated, they can function as individual side tables, low tables, or be configured into entirely different compositions.
It’s the kind of design that invites you to move it around, and one that can change along with the room.
