Italian Pink Portuguese Marble Oblong Dining Table with Pedestal Bases, 1970s
A 1970s Italian dining table carved from luminous pink Portuguese marble, its oblong top resting on two stepped hexagonal pedestals. The stone features a pale blush ground, punctuated by warm undertones and bold striations in moss green, smoke, and soft charcoal. Variations in density and translucence give the surface a painterly depth, with natural lines running across the top like brushstrokes on canvas.
The edge is gently bullnosed—subtly curved and polished to a soft sheen—heightening the sense of mass while refining the silhouette. The twin pedestal bases are sharply geometric, with chamfered corners and stacked plinths that ground the composition with architectural clarity. Sculptural, sensual, and unmistakably Italian. A rare example of postmodern materiality meeting classical proportion.
