Italian Pink Rectangular Wall Mirror in the manner of Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte, 1940s

$3,600.00

Measured geometry and softened reflection define this 1940s Italian rectangular wall mirror, in the manner of Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte.

The form is direct and architectural, a clean rectangle bordered by a wide frame of softly tinted pink glass. The edges are beveled with precision, each angle catching light and subtly shifting in tone, creating an interplay between surface and depth. The mitered corners reinforce the clarity of the composition, giving the piece a sense of order and balance.

Within, the mirrored plate shows gentle foxing, a natural patina that has developed over time. These delicate markings diffuse the reflection, softening its clarity and introducing a sense of atmosphere. Rather than a perfect image, the mirror offers something more nuanced, light and reflection tempered by age, with a texture that feels both lived-in and intentional.

There is a restraint to the piece, but also warmth. The pink glass frame holds a luminosity, while the foxed surface lends character and depth. Hung on the wall, it functions not only as a mirror, but as a composed field of light and tone, subtle, architectural, and enduring.
