Pair of Mathieu Matégot Style White Perforated Metal Nesting Tables, France 1950s

$850.00 $2,200.00

A pair of 1950s French white perforated metal nesting tables, reminiscent of designs by Mathieu Matégot. These tables have a playful yet functional element, with their perforated surfaces allowing light and shadow to interact in dynamic patterns. The original patina adds a layer of authenticity, celebrating their age and history. Perfectly versatile, they can be used together or apart, offering a sculptural presence whether nested or separated. France, 1950s.

Mathieu Matégot, a visionary French-Hungarian designer, born in 1910, revolutionized mid-century design with his experimental approach. After honing his craft across Europe and the U.S., he settled in Paris, where he founded a studio dedicated to innovative furniture and decorative objects. His work, distinguished by the interplay of metal, glass, fabric, and leather, became iconic. In 1959, Matégot shifted focus to upholstery and tapestries, continuing his creative journey until his passing in 2001.
