Antique 19th Century French Cast Plaster Bas-Relief Panel
A French cast plaster bas-relief panel from the 1890s, where the softness of the figure is set against the raw, timeworn character of the plaster.
The composition centers on a seated female figure in profile, her head lowered and long hair falling over one shoulder. Drapery gathers loosely around her body, modeled in deep folds that give the monochromatic surface a sense of movement. A tall palm frond crosses the composition diagonally, while a geometric object rests near her hand, introducing a sharper counterpoint to the organic lines of the figure and foliage.
Cast in plaster, the relief shifts between finely modeled passages and areas left intentionally quiet and textured. The figure projects gently from the background rather than emerging in high relief, allowing light to move gradually across the surface. Small irregularities, losses and traces of age remain visible throughout, giving the warm, chalky plaster a weathered quality.

Our White Glove service includes delivery inside the home (including one flight of stairs). Once the shippers are in your region, they will contact you beforehand to provide the delivery day and time window. Standard lead time is 3-5 weeks.
Ensure a clear path and be available to sign for the delivery. The team cannot move existing furniture. Rural deliveries may experience longer wait times due to limited routing. Alert us if there are additional stairs, COI requirements or other unique circumstances.

In-stock inventory ships via UPS, USPS, or FedEx within 5-10 business days (excluding holidays). Rates are calculated based on the full order value, size and region.
