Brass + Opaline Glass Globe Chandelier by South Loop Loft
Designed by South Loop Loft and fabricated in Chicago by Wayward in 2017, this chandelier is where light is arranged with the precision and delicacy of jewelry.
Extending fourteen feet in length, the composition is vertical and measured. Slender brass rods descend in parallel lines, suspending a sequence of opaline glass globes that appear to float in rhythm. Fifteen lights are distributed along the structure, each globe a soft point of illumination, creating a cadence that shifts as it moves through space.
The materials are restrained—warm brass, satin opaline glass—but the effect is luminous and layered. When lit, the globes emit a diffused glow, while the brass framework traces a fine linear structure around them. The balance between solidity and lightness gives the piece its sense of tension, as though assembled rather than hung.
The reference to jewelry is subtle but present in the repetition, the spacing, the way each element relates to the next. Like a strand extended beyond the body, it transforms ornament into architecture.
At a monumental scale, it defines the volume it occupies. In a double-height space or above a stair, it draws the eye vertically, marking movement and anchoring the room. A piece that does more than illuminate—shaping atmosphere through proportion, rhythm, and light.

White Glove Delivery
Our White Glove service includes delivery inside the home (including one flight of stairs). Once the shippers are in your region, they will contact you beforehand to provide the delivery day and time window. Standard lead time is 3-5 weeks.
Ensure a clear path and be available to sign for the delivery. The team cannot move existing furniture. Rural deliveries may experience longer wait times due to limited routing. Alert us if there are additional stairs, COI requirements or other unique circumstances.
Domestic Shipping
In-stock inventory ships via UPS, USPS, or FedEx within 5-10 business days (excluding holidays). Rates are calculated based on the full order value, size and region.
