Danish Oak + Ceramic Tile Inlay Coffee Table by Tue Poulsen for Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, 1960s
A Danish coffee table from the 1960s by Tue Poulsen for Haslev Møbelsnedkeri, where the warmth of solid oak meets the tactile character of handcrafted ceramic.
A mosaic of earthy ceramic tiles radiates from the center in concentric rings, their subtle variation in tone and texture bringing depth to the surface. Browns, creams, ochres, and soft greys create a palette that feels unmistakably Scandinavian—natural, understated, and architectural.
Framed in solid oak, the table is grounded by a cruciform base that gives the piece a low, balanced profile. The generous proportions invite it to sit at the center of a room, while the ceramic inlay offers a practical surface designed to withstand daily use, reflecting the Danish commitment to beauty through function.
Created during a period when Scandinavian designers embraced honest materials and thoughtful craftsmanship, the table embodies the enduring appeal of mid-century Danish design. Every element serves a purpose, yet together they create an object with remarkable presence.
