French Wrought Iron + Églomisé Mirror Rectangular Coffee Table, 1940s
A French coffee table from the 1940s, where delicate metalwork meets the quiet luminosity of verre églomisé.
The hand-forged wrought iron base is shaped with a sense of rhythm. Its curved supports create an open silhouette, while the warm aged gilt finish has softened over time, revealing the character that only decades of natural patina can produce. A twisted stretcher spans the length of the frame, adding both structure and a subtle decorative gesture.
Resting above is a verre églomisé mirrored top, its gently weathered surface reflecting light with a muted, atmospheric quality rather than a polished shine. The mirror lends depth to the piece, contrasting with the warmth and texture of the forged iron below.
