Italian Scalloped Wall Mirror with Wall-Mounted Console, 1960s
An Italian wall mirror and console from the 1960s, sourced directly from an estate in Piedmont, Italy, where the two were found together in the home.
The mirror rises in a tall, softly scalloped shape, with etched detailing following the curves of the glass and delicate ironwork framing its edges. Below, the slender wall-mounted console extends outward in a half-moon shape. Its iron base is worked with looping scrolls that continue down the tapered supports, while a glass top leaves the metalwork visible from above.
The details of the two pieces echo one another, from the scrolling ironwork to the delicate lines traced across the mirror and console top. Together, they create a narrow vertical arrangement that takes up very little floor space while still having plenty of presence.
An original photograph from the Piedmont home shows the console still in place, offering a glimpse of how it lived before coming to us. That photograph is included with the listing.
With its slender proportions, the set would work especially well in an entryway, along a narrow hallway, or in a bedroom, particularly where floor space is limited.
