Italian Six-Arm Murano Glass Chandelier Attributed to Barovier & Toso, 1940s

$4,400.00

An Italian six-arm Murano glass chandelier attributed to Barovier & Toso, crafted in the 1940s. Six fluted glass shades bloom outward like petals, each held by a curved arm of thick, ribbed glass. The arms converge at a central column composed of vertically stacked Murano rods, capped with patinated brass spheres. Brass fittings throughout show a warm, aged finish, grounding the luminous glass.

When illuminated, the piece glows with a soft radiance, the fluted shades scattering light in delicate striations across the room. Equally suited to a dining room, entryway, or any setting that calls for Venetian glassmaking at its most poetic.

The Barovier dynasty traces its roots to 1295, when Jacobello Barovier, a master glassblower, began transforming molten sand and minerals into incandescent works of art. For centuries, the family maintained its legacy, crafting exquisite glass pieces until the mid-20th century, when it merged with another renowned glassworks to become Barovier & Toso. This evolution reflects a commitment to artistry and tradition that endures to this day.
