Monumental French Iron + Gilt Brass Ten-Arm Sconce in the Manner of Jean Royere, 1950s - 2 Available

$12,000.00

Discovered in a Parisian theater, this sculptural scale sconce embodies the lyrical character of mid-century French design. Ten curving iron arms rise in a cascading arrangement, each supporting a cylindrical shade that creates a sculptural play of light and form. At the base, a gilt brass medallion gathers the arms, while spherical finials punctuate their ends—details that echo the playful sophistication of Jean Royère.

Royère’s influence can be seen in the fluidity of line, the sense of rhythm, and the decorative restraint that allows the silhouette to remain both architectural and poetic. Monumental in scale yet balanced in proportion, this piece functions as both illumination and wall sculpture.

With its interplay of wrought iron and gilt brass, the sconce captures the craftsmanship and imagination of Parisian ateliers of the 1950s and 1960s, standing as a striking statement for entryways, grand staircases, or gallery walls. We currently have a pair available; they can be displayed as a dramatic duo or individually as a singular statement.
