Rare Italian 'Epoca I' Backlit Wall Mirror by Nanda Vigo for Sica, 1991
A 1991 Italian 'Epoca I' wall mirror designed by Nanda Vigo for Sica, shaped by layered glass and an almost weightless sense of movement.
Resembling a cloud, the oblong frame is composed of satin glass in a soft aqua hue, with two overlapping organic forms creating subtle shifts in depth and transparency. A wavy outer edge gives the piece its fluid silhouette, while the off-center oval mirror introduces an unexpected asymmetry.
Light moves gently across the satin surface, emphasizing the curves of the glass and changing the mirror’s character throughout the day. Its presence lends itself to an entryway, powder room, bedroom, or above a console.
A mirror defined by softness and movement, transforming glass into a form that feels suspended somewhere between object and atmosphere.

About Nanda Vigo
Nanda Vigo (1936–2020) was an Italian artist, designer, and architect who pioneered a number of innovative techniques within modern and contemporary art. Her more recent designs have focused on sensory impulses, utilizing materials such as glass, mirrors, and neon lights. Throughout her career, Vigo collaborated with many famous Italian designers and artists including Gio Ponti, Lucio Fontana, and Piero Manzoni; she is also featured in multiple iterations of the Triennale di Milano, as well as the Venice Biennale.
