French 5-Light Wrought Iron + Gilt Chandelier with Shades, 1940s
A French five-light wrought iron and gilt chandelier, dating to the 1940s.
The frame is hand-wrought in iron, shaped into a series of continuous loops that trace the perimeter in an unbroken rhythm. This detail defines the piece. From below, the pattern reveals itself fully—a composition that reads as much like line drawing as it does structure.
Gilt accents and custom fabric shades soften the ironwork’s precision. Suspended from a central stem, the chandelier holds a symmetry. The looping iron creates movement, while the overall composition stays grounded and deliberate.
