French Art Deco Verre Églomisé Celestial Wall Mirror, 1930s
A French Art Deco wall mirror from the 1930s, where surface and reflection merge into something atmospheric and luminous.
Crafted in the technique of verre églomisé, the decoration is applied to the reverse of the glass. Layers of gold and silver leaf are laid beneath the surface, then worked through painting and delicate etching, building a composition that reveals itself through reflection. The result is both reflective and dimensional, an image held just beneath the surface.
The frame unfolds in a scalloped, rhythmic form, characteristic of the Art Deco period, where geometry meets ornament with precision. Across it, celestial starbursts and scrolling forms move in a continuous register, their warm gilded tones set against a mottled, silvered ground.
What distinguishes the piece further is the iridescent foxing that has developed over time. Soft washes of blue, violet, and silver drift across the surface, the aging reading almost like a night sky. Rather than diminishing clarity, it introduces depth—an atmospheric quality that shifts with the light.
Both mirror and object, it holds a presence that extends beyond function. In an entry or above a mantel, it reflects while also absorbing, its surface carrying the marks of its making and the passage of time.

Our White Glove service includes delivery inside the home (including one flight of stairs). Once the shippers are in your region, they will contact you beforehand to provide the delivery day and time window. Standard lead time is 3-5 weeks.
Ensure a clear path and be available to sign for the delivery. The team cannot move existing furniture. Rural deliveries may experience longer wait times due to limited routing. Alert us if there are additional stairs, COI requirements or other unique circumstances.

In-stock inventory ships via UPS, USPS, or FedEx within 5-10 business days (excluding holidays). Rates are calculated based on the full order value, size and region.
