The design is defined by a slender rectangular top that appears to float above a forged iron base. Hand-hammered throughout, the metal retains a subtle texture that catches the light, revealing the marks of its making.

Gently tapering legs terminate in delicate scroll feet, introducing a graceful counterpoint to the console’s otherwise architectural silhouette.

Its proportions allow it to occupy a space with ease. In an entryway, it provides a measured place for sculpture or objects collected over time. Along a hallway, it creates rhythm without imposing on the room. Behind a sofa or beneath a work of art, it offers a framework that elevates its surroundings rather than competing with them.

Sylvain Subervie (born 1950) is a French self-taught sculptor and designer. After beginning his career in the fashion industry in 1970 as a successful brand developer, he left the industry in the 1990s to create sculptural furniture and objects, transforming bicycle parts with natural elements into inventive, timeless forms. His multidisciplinary practice is driven by an exploration of material, structure, and negative space.

For more than 25 years, Subervie has worked extensively in wrought iron and Cristal de Roche (rock crystal), expanding his practice into the decorative arts. Since 2006, he has been represented by Galerie Marcilhac in Paris, and his works have been acquired by prominent collectors associated with French decorative arts, including Printz, Prouvé, and Leleu. In 2011, he represented France at Art Basel Miami during a major international auction.

In recent years, Subervie has turned his attention to monumental outdoor sculpture, producing works such as The Giraffe, The School of Fish, acquired by the city of Cagnes in 2008, and The Army of Shield Warriors, a sculptural statement against war. He describes his artistic philosophy as "creating form through emptiness," a concept that defines the expressive balance of strength, movement, and space throughout his work.
