Antique Italian 9 ft Cherry Wood Bench From Villa Cavalli - 2 Available

$7,000.00

An antique Italian bench from the early 19th century, scaled in a way that feels closer to architecture than furniture.

Stretching nearly ten feet in length, the form is low and deliberate. It was sourced from Villa Cavalli, an estate just outside Padua, where Venetian nobility retreated to the countryside—spaces designed for gathering, where long meals and conversation carried through grand salons and arched loggias.

Crafted in cherry wood, the apron is defined by a continuous rhythm of trefoil cut-outs, a detail drawn from Gothic vocabulary and carried into Italian domestic interiors. The carving introduces lightness beneath the weight of the seat, allowing shadow to pass through. Turned bun feet ground the piece, giving it a steady, anchored presence.

At each corner, just above the feet, a painted crown rests over the family’s initials—still intact—marking the bench as part of a specific lineage and place.

The hand-embroidered wool seat softens the structure, but it’s the length that defines how the piece is used. In a grand entry, it establishes arrival. Along a wall, it creates a place to gather. At the foot of a bed, it extends the architecture of the space outward.

A piece that carries its setting with it—Italian villa interiors, long corridors, high ceilings—chosen not just to furnish, but to shape the room around it.

Sold and priced individually.
