Art Deco Bentwood Reclining Armchair by Pancota Vienna for Thonet, 1920s - 2 Available

$5,200.00

An Art Deco armchair from the 1920s, produced by Pancota Vienna for Thonet. Crafted in bent beechwood, the frame curves in bold architectural lines, its sweeping arms forming circular loops that cradle the seat. The reclining mechanism allows for adjustability, a functional innovation integrated seamlessly into the form. Upholstered in its original patterned green fabric, the generous cushions emphasize comfort and invite relaxation.

Sold and priced individually.

Michael Thonet pioneered the techniques of steam-bending both solid and laminated beechwood, innovations that reshaped furniture making in the 19th and 20th centuries. His methods allowed for the production of strong yet fluid forms, from scrolled arms to contoured rails, that became icons of industrial design. This collaboration with Pancota Vienna exemplifies that legacy, uniting Thonet’s technical mastery with the stylized geometry of the Art Deco era.
