A Danish 'SW86' dining chair designed by Finn Juhl for Søren Willadsen Møbelfabrik in the 1950s, embodying the character of Scandinavian Modern design. Crafted in warm honey-toned oak, the frame reveals a rich texture and natural grain, balanced by a rounded teak handle back that adds both comfort and visual refinement. The black pebbled vinyl seat introduces a subtle contrast, grounding the organic warmth of the wood.
A piece defined by proportion and craftsmanship, the chair reflects Finn Juhl’s approach to furniture as both functional object and sculptural form. Designed for the dining room, it brings a sense of warmth and character while standing equally well as a singular statement piece within a carefully considered interior.
Along with Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, and Børge Mogensen, Finn Juhl was one of the the most famous Danish furniture designers of the Mid 20th Century. Juhl began designing furniture in the late 1930s, embracing expressive, free-flowing shapes in chairs and sofas. He was the first in this group to have his work promoted overseas, bringing the simplicity and craftsmanship behind Danish designs to an international audience.
