Italian Chrome + Glass Flower Flush Mount Attributed to Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, 1960s

$2,700.00

A rare 1960s flush mount attributed to Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte. The sputnik silhouette is composed of a central chrome structure that extends into tubular rods, each supporting hand-chiseled glass pieces. The thoughtful arrangement of these organic forms creates a composition reminiscent of a blooming bouquet.

Max Ingrand, a celebrated French designer and master glassmaker, collaborated extensively with Fontana Arte, an Italian lighting and glass design company, during the mid-20th century. Max Ingrand became the artistic director of Fontana Arte in 1954, a position he held until 1967. During this period, he was instrumental in shaping the company’s design direction, emphasizing the use of glass in innovative ways.

Ingrand was known for his meticulous approach to glasswork, often treating glass not just as a functional material but as a medium for artistic expression. His designs for Fontana Arte combined elegance with modernity, making use of etched, frosted, and colored glass to create visually stunning and functional pieces. The collaboration between Max Ingrand and Fontana Arte resulted in some of the most iconic lighting designs of the 20th century.
