Italian Murano Glass + Brass Pendant Attributed to Barovier & Toso, 1940s

An Italian Murano glass pendant attributed to Barovier & Toso, crafted in the 1940s. A blown-glass orb anchors the upper stem, its surface marked by soft vertical striations that reveal its hand-formed origin. Below, three sweeping brass arms arc outward to cradle Murano glass elements—ribbed, textured, and scalloped like unfolding petals.

At the center, a fluted glass shade diffuses the light into a gentle, ambient glow. Elegant and atmospheric, the pendant brings the artistry of mid-century Venetian glasswork into focus—perfect over a dining table or in an entryway.

The Barovier dynasty traces its roots to 1295, when Jacobello Barovier, a master glassblower, began transforming molten sand and minerals into incandescent works of art. For centuries, the family maintained its legacy, crafting exquisite glass pieces until the mid-20th century, when it merged with another renowned glassworks to become Barovier & Toso. This evolution reflects a commitment to artistry and tradition that endures to this day.
