Italian Oval Onyx Coffee Table with Brass Base, 1950s
A 1950s Italian oval coffee table, defined by its richly veined onyx top and sculptural brass base. The oval top is carved from warm-toned onyx, its surface alive with layered hues of amber, rust, and honey, finished with a pronounced ogee edge that softens the stone’s profile.
The onyx rests on slender brass legs with gently flared silhouettes, their warm patina echoing the golden tones within the stone. Blackened metal stretchers span the base, reinforcing the structure.
The interplay of polished stone, brass, and darkened metal captures the expressive spirit of mid-century Italian design—decorative, disciplined, and grounded.
