Italian 'Tony' Triangular Coffee Table by Porada Arredi, 1970s

$4,000.00

Designed by Porada Arredi in the 1970s, this Italian ‘Tony’ triangular coffee table is a study in modular form—an object that shifts effortlessly between furniture and composition.

The coffee table is composed of 6 individual tables and pairs a frosted and smoked glass tops with a dark-stained wooden base, where the soft translucence of the glass contrasts against the clean geometry of the frame. The interplay between the charcoal-toned and grey-frosted glass and the deep espresso finish creates a monochromatic palette that feels distinctly Italian—balancing warmth, shadow, and modern precision. Unified in tone, the six tables read as a single architectural composition, whether arranged together or dispersed throughout a space.

The strength of the design lies in its flexibility. Used individually, each table functions as a side table. Combined, they form a coffee table with a geometric silhouette. Stacked in sequence, they become an unexpected entryway console, adapting to the room rather than prescribing it.

In 1948, Luigi Allievi started a small furniture workshop driven by his passion for wood and craftsmanship. By 1968, it had evolved into Porada Arredi. Like many artisan businesses that emerged in post-WWII Italy, Porada thrived in a favorable environment shaped by Mussolini’s SRL, which granted tax concessions to small enterprises.

While the war interrupted production, the post-war reconstruction fueled demand for quality, leading these once-small workshops, like Porada, to grow into major furniture manufacturers.
