A 20th-century French plaster bas-relief, sculpted in a warm, chalky palette that carries the soft mark of time. The composition depicts a seated female figure, rendered in rounded, architectural volumes—legs crossed, torso curved inward, her face turned toward the slim flute held delicately between her hands, the contours rising and falling in rhythmic planes.
The plaster surface shows its age beautifully: a natural patina, tonal variation, and minor abrasions that accentuate the relief’s hand-tooled texture. Along the edges, slight irregularities reveal the artist’s working process—the shaping, smoothing, and layering that gave the panel its depth.
Fitted with a wire for hanging, the work displays like an architectural fragment—lyrical and serene.
